apparently this post has become the post people use to contact me or harass me, and as such i removed the original post and reposted it in a separate entry. if you want to talk to me, have at it!
my power adapter just went poof. : ( i'm sitting here on my laptop and and there was a small flash of light and a pop, and now my laptop says it's running on battery power. this is the second power adapter that has died since i got this laptop four years ago. are they supposed to die every two years? : /
orientation was today. it was kinda boring, mostly just videos for three and a half hours. my paycheck for this week and next will be about $20, lol. then i don't have training again until 10/31, another shift on 11/1, and the last training shift on 11/6. ughhh. so my next paycheck will only be abut $80, but hopefully things will pick up after that. i'm hoping that maybe they'll decide "oh hai, you don't really need a third shift of training so here's a register" maybe on my third shift of training. i mean, how hard is it to run a register after i've done it in other stores?
i'm probably going to crosstrain for electronics a few weeks after i'm done with cashier training. there's this board next to the scheduling board where you can write down shifts you don't want for whatever reason, and someone else can come along and claim them, so if i'm trained in two areas, i can claim shifts for both areas. i already plan on claiming as many cashiering shifts as i possibly can, just cause i need the hours.
in other news, i painted my nails tonight! i did an orange base coat (wet n wild "craze") and then angled french tips in black (rimmel "black satin"), so the orange bit ends in a point. it looks pretty sweet, imo. i also painted my toenails orange and will be painting jack-o-lantern faces on them. : ) i painted my toes and the underside of my fingernails with glow in the dark top coat. woo! i keep getting my nails caught between the keys on my laptop though, and that's kind of fucking it up a little bit. they're dry though, so it's not too bad.

i just spent a good fiften minutes trying to get my earskins in. : ( i tried everything that i can think of and they just won't go in because the flare's too big. wtf do i do? : (
in other news, i called target on friday and i passed the drug test! they said they don't call people to tell them if they passed or failed until two days before orientation, which i think is a little wtf because how is two days enough time to find work clothes? it took me three days to even find khaki pants that fit passably well, let alone finding more than one red shirt. at least we can wear whatever shoes we want! not that i have a lot of shoes that go well with red shirts and khaki pants, lol.
i bough two new books yesterday! i got 23 hours and frostbite, both by david wellington. 23 hours is the fourth book in what i thought was a trilogy. it centers around a pennsylvania state trooper who encounters a vampire during a standard sobriety check on some backroad, and the books follow her hunts for vampires. i'm really excited about this book; like i said, i thought it was only a trilogy but the back of the book says that it's the fourth book of the series, so who knows how many more books there might be! :D and they're good vampires too, they have dozens sharp pointy teeth and they rip out people's throats, the way vampires should. it's really interesting how the author fleshed out the mythology of the vampires in the series, and how he explains common myths about vampires. a few times, one of the main characters talks about vampires in the past, and the author managed to neatly weave vampires into both the american civil war and medieval europe.
frostbite is the first book in a series about werewolves, and that's about all i know. but i suspect these werewolves won't be as nice as lupin.

i'm trying to decide what to be for halloween and i can't pick! i'm debating between sailor girl, barmaid, french courtesan, or cinderella. i asked tqc and so far cinderella and barmaid are the most popular, but i wouldn't be able to rewear any of the cinderella costume. the sailor girl skirt could easily be reworn, and the barmaid skirt could be reworn if i make it right. the french courtesan outfit is pretty impractical and i wouldn't be able to rewear any of it, but it'd be so pretty! i could buy white hair spray and curl my hair and make it look like those wigs they wore back then. the hair and make up for cinderlla would be pretty easy, i'd just curl my hair and do red lipstick and smoky eyes.
i just can't pick! i'm going to the galleria tomorrow so i suppose i'll make a point of stopping in a halloween store there to try stuff on and have mal give me her opinion.

i just managed to reply to someone on a message board entirely in spanish! i'm proud of myself. : )
my paid account just ran out. : ( but i got the job at target as long as i pass the drug test, so i suppose my part of my first paycheck will go to renewing my account, lol. i still need to find khaki pants and red shirts though. i checked all the stores in batavia AND brockport, and only found one pair of passable khaki pants, so this tuesday i'm going to the galleria with mallory to have a look. they have an aero, which is supposed to have decent pants, and they also have a forever 21, which should have cheap shirts. they also have a wet seal and penney's and macy's and shit, so if i can't find anything there, there's just nothing to be found. i'm sort of annoyed that target has NO red shirts though. wtf? and they only had like one pair of khaki pants that weren't dress pants. hopefully i'll be able to find something at the galleria.
i went grocery shopping the other day and wegmans has their halloween nail polish displays out! i bought sinful colors "fiji", which is a shimmery purple, and also a glow in the dark top coat by fantasy makers, which i guess is a child label of wet n wild. the glow in the dark works relatively well, when i went to bed that night my nails were glowing a bit! it makes me want to paint some of it on the backplace of my phone, in case i drop it at night or something. the other color i bought didn't go well though. it took four coats before it was opaque, and even then, not all the nails are completely opaque. since i did a base coat and three coats of the glow in the dark, i now i have eight layers of nail polish on. :/ not pleased. normally i only have like four. i've also noticed that once you get past 4-5 layers of nail polish, including top coat, it starts to peel off more easily than if there are only 2-3 coats. so that kind of sucks. the glow in the dark is cool though, i put on three coats and it slightly changed the color of the base nail polish, it's kind of a dusty purple, but unless you saw the original bottle, you probably wouldn't know that i had on a tinted top coat. so that's cool. i plan on painting my toes orange, then using the glow in the dark top coat, then using black and painting my big toes like jack-o-lanterns. : ) since the black is going on after the glow, you'll be able to see the jack-o-lanterns in the dark, too!
i suppose that's all. i'm pretty tired, even though it's barely past one. my kitty's taken to sleeping on my bed again, so i'm going to go cuddle with her. :D

my interview went really well! the second lady that interviewed me told me to come back on saturday at 11am but apparently she just transferred from a store in nebraska and she wasn't completely familiar with policies here, so whatever she wanted me to do on saturday couldn't be done until monday, so i'm going back at 10:30 on monday. i feel like i've pretty much got the job though! they don't care at all about hair color or piercings, which is pretty awesome, and they said i could cross-train to get more hours. plus they pay more than minimum wage, which is pretty sweet.
there are library officials behind me and so i feel the need to do something other than play games on facebook.
my interview at target is today! it's at 3pm but they told me to get there about 15 minutes early to do another stupid assessment. it'll go well i think, i've learned that you should always answer "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree" if you can. at any rate, it seems like i've passed more assessments since i started doing that. i'm sort of nervous what they'll say about facial piercings, i REALLY don't want to take my monroe out but i guess i will if i have to. : / i don't have a 16g taper though so if it starts to close up, i'm kind of fucked. hopefully they don't care and i can just leave it in.
once again, we didn't do a hell of a lot in world civ. honestly i can't even remember what i learned, if anything, other than the fact that japan is not in the polynesian triangle and that new zealand was the last land mass to be inhabited by humans. we read this handout that was a photocopy of two pages in the old textbook, and it had four questions at the bottom so we were supposed to discuss them in small groups. that took up almost the entire class, so there wasn't any time for lecture or anything we could actually learn from. we did a practice quiz at the end of class which seemed kind of pointless. the questions were from the little quizzes you can do for extra credit for each chapter and we only did two of them. what's the point of that?
i started rereading kurt vonnegut's cat's cradle. i'm like two thirds through it maybe, i started it only a few days ago. it's pretty short though, i expect i'll finish it tonight or tomorrow. after that, i have earth abides by george r stewart. it was written in the fifties and i guess it's about a guy trying to rebuild his life after some virus or diseased wiped out most of earth's population. i haven't heard of it before, but if it's been in print for 60 years, it's gotta be good, right?
and now that the librarians have gone, i'm going back to restaurant city.

i probably won't be online for a few days to a week. : / my laptop hinge broke rather suddenly and i'm using bits of old wire to told the lid open. my dad took it to best buy today after work to see if there's anything to be done with it. i really hope they can fix it because otherwise i have to use my mum's computer which means i can't play any of my games except for farmville, plus all my spreadsheets and music and stuff is on my hard drive. my dad said he was going to take that out before taking my laptop in so i left the old hard drive on top of my laptop last night, but the old hard drive's gone and the new one isn't here either. so... : /
in other news, i started my own wiki for all my school notes, it's pretty cool. right now i've got all of my nutrition notes up and all of my history notes, but my history notes are seriously lacking, so i'm going through my textbook and creating a page for each of the key terms listed at the end of the chapter, and then supplementing their definition with stuff in the text. it's taking a while, but i feel like i'm learning a LOT more than i'm learning in class, so that's good.
i think i've mentioned this already, but i have an interview at target on friday! :D i'll probably wear my interview clothes to class on friday and bum around town until my interview at 3. i'm exciiiiiited. :D

i got a call from target this morning! they wanted to set up an interview, so now i have one next friday at 3pm. YAY! :D i don't know what i'm going to wear though, it's either semi ill fitting black dress pants or a black skirt that may be a smidge too short. i think i'll take picture of the potential outfits and ask tqc what they think.
i'm really excited that they called back though, they're supposed to pay really well and i'll probably get a decent number of hours too. i dunno what their stance is on facial piercings but i guess we'll see. i can always get a retainer if i really need to.
i have to go study for my nutrition test though, which is in about an hour. it should be easy, it's only the first three chapters. i have my first history test on friday which i believe is just a bunch of multiple choice. semi irritated that everything in that class seems easy plus today we spent the entire time reviewing. note that the test is on chapters 1-5 and we haven't even started chapter 5 in class, nor did we take any notes on chapter 3. apparently this is a class where you're in charge of teaching. i mean, i realize that you have to do work out of class, but it's bothering me that there will be things on the test that we probably didn't even touch in class. oh well. : / not a lot i can do about it now, other than sit in the back and bitch about it with everyone else at my table, lol.

i stretched my ears to 10g last night. i feel like i pushed my ears a bit too fast, so i'm going to leave them the hell alone for the nexy month or two. i didn't tear anything and they feel fine now, they just have that slight tight feeling that happens sometimes. i don't want to risk it though, i'd hate to have to downsize or anything, so i'm just going to leave them alone for now.
my dad's fixing the front door and as a result it's hanging wide open. : / it's not even 60 outside.
in other news, i applied at target last night. supposedly they're looking for people, so we'll see. they also pay well from what i've heard, so that'd be nice. hopefully i get a call back.

i'm trying to decide what to be for halloween, and it's not going well lol. i was thinking maybe going as scarlett o'hara though my hair's the wrong color, then i was considering being a generic southern belle and mal would be one too. or maybe french courtesans, or maybe disney princesses. she could be snow white, she has pretty dark hair, and i could maybe be belle or cinderella. i'd have to dye my hair blonde again for cinderella and i'd have to get "glass" slippers but it could be fun, and pretty easy too. then i was thinking of going as the grey lady from harry potter. she's a ravenclaw too, so that would be fun.
i just don't knowwww. any thoughts?

i went to sally's last night with mallory and bought china glaze's flying dragon, CH ruby pumps, and this awesome striping brush with a dotting tool on the other end. i also bought some no-name polish from rite aid that's a really pretty shimmery purple. i painted my nails with flying dragon as soon as i got home, and i just added a white tip with my handy dandy striping brush. i love how it looks! ( Read more... )
it took three coats before it was opaque, and it took three coats of top coat, which sort of bothers me, but it's SUCH a gorgeous color that i can't complain too much. it's an almost neon purple base with tiny fuschia and blue glitter. it's really hard to get a good picture of it, even in direct sunlight, but i'd really recommend getting it if you have the chance. the white tips really set it off, i think.
i also painted my toenails with ruby pumps, but i couldn't get any decent pictures of it, so here's someone else's pictue. ( Read more... )
i LOVE how it looks on my toes. i practically couldn't stop looking at it last night! it only took two coats to be opaque, but it's still a little bumpy after two layers of top coat. the color's gorgeous though, it makes me feel like a '40s starlet. they make a version in green called emerald sparkle, and i really want to get that too.
when i got home from school, i made the TASTIEST quesadilla. it was just shredded chicken, cheddar and pepper jack cheeses, and some taco bell fire sauce. SO GOOD. OMG. it was super easy too, as long as i can steal fire sauce from taco bell. i think i used too much cheese, since the fat was higher than i liked (18.5g), and i also think that i'll use some veggies next time, some onions and maybe red bell pepper. it was super tasty though, i'm definitely going to be making this again.

GUESS WHO NOW OWNS EARSKINS? FUCK YEAH!! i can't wear them yet because my ears are too small, but I OWN EARSKINS. FUCK YEAAAAAH.
i went to ulta today, with a nice long list of colors i wanted to get, and i was super stoked. i got there (after accidentally getting on 490 east instead of staying on 390 south and getting rather lost in rochester), and they don't have a single color i really wanted. : ( i'm sort of disappointed in their selection, actually. half of the colors i wanted were part of current collections but those colors were nowhere to be found, they didn't even have spots for them. and one of the current collections was completely absent. i'll probably end up ordering the missing colors online sometime. so i wandered around a bit, found a couple opi colors that i wanted and a few essie colors that i wanted, and discovered that ulta carries cheap brands like rimmel and sally hansen. eventually, i wandered back over to the various china glaze displays to try to find something i liked enough to buy.
so i got china glaze's sexy in the city. it looks really pretty in the bottle, though i haven't tried it yet. i also considered getting opi's see! i told you, but it's just a tad more expensive than i liked. anyways, mallory's coming over tuesday night to go hunt down nail polish, then come back here and try it, so i'll try it out then.
anyway, here's a pic of the manicure i did last sunday! i took this picture earlier today; i'm really surprised at how well it stayed on. ( Read more... )
i've got to go to bed though, i barely slept last night so i'm already pretty tired.

i ordered some stuff from body art forms last night! i got a 10g taper, clearskins (!!!), and this in blue. i also got 2 cbrs, since i need metal for after i first stretch, but those are boring. i'm so excited to be able to wear earskins!! they should be here monday or tuesday and oh man i am so stoked. i know i stretched to 12g not even two weeks ago but it seems like my ears are self-stretching. it only took me two weeks to go from 14g to 12g, but that didn't hurt at all besides a slight pinch, but i'm pretty sure that pinch is normal. hopefully i'll be able to stretch up to 10g whenever my package comes!
i stopped by the scene shop today cause i wanted to see if they were doing sign ups for tech for the show this fall, and it's already filled. : / the show's called "colored girls" but apparently the set's really minimal and most of it's just lighting, which isn't something i've done before. i'm sort of considering doing lighting for it, but i dunno. we're also having tanys (theatre association of new york state) here again this year, but i think the only open positions for that are asm and lighting people, plus i think one of the ace students is already probably going to do lighting for that, since she needs hours for practicum or for whatever classes she's taking. so that kind of sucks. i guess i can hang around the shop and help out all the youngins who aren't too familiar with all the power tools and such, so i guess that'll be fun. and hopefully next semester we'll have a show where there's more set construction and where we need more than 2 people for run crew.
world civ today made me feel like i was in high school again. seriously, we do worksheets almost every class, and half the time i'm not even sure how they relate to the class. one of them was about sojourner truth. in the first week of world civ. what?
scruggs is supposed to be a good teacher and i'm trying to like the course, but i can't stand doing worksheets this often. once in a while is okay, but i hate that they're every single day. and if you don't finish them in class, they become homework. this is exactly why i hated high school, i can't stand doing busywork like this. i'm seriously not learning anything from telling you what the general topic of articles 6-25 of hammurabi's code are. it's just driving me mad. there seem to be a lot of 18 year olds in the class so i guess they probably don't mind, since they just left high school anyways, but for someone who's been out of high school for two and a half years? not cool. : /
and now i must take tqc's advice and drink my rum. good night!
eta: i also got a new book this morning! it's embolus by gary birken. i read another book of his, final diagnosis, and it was pretty good. i wanted to get another stephen king book (either carrie or pet sematary, but the library at school didn't have either). it was on my list of books i want to read, which is now down to 64.

eta: i also got a new book this morning! it's embolus by gary birken. i read another book of his, final diagnosis, and it was pretty good. i wanted to get another stephen king book (either carrie or pet sematary, but the library at school didn't have either). it was on my list of books i want to read, which is now down to 64.
so hillary turned 21 about a month ago, and was having a party the friday after her birthday. she cancelled it like two days before, but whatever. i went to this horrible bar in medina with her that thursday, we had a decent time, and i went home.
fast forward to this past friday. she used to work with mallory at wamu, and one of their coworkers mentioned the party to mallory for whatever reason. meaning the party happened, and hillary didn't bother to tell us?
what the fuck? seriously?!
so mal texts her to figure out wtf, and she didn't even own up to it! all she said was "oh". are you kidding?!
me and mallory aren't talking to her anymore. she'll probably figure out we're not talking to her in a few weeks and maybe she'll apologize. but seriously, how often does she pull this shit? she caused shit with kyle so he refused to hang out with her, she did the same shit with alex, she'll probably do the same shit with the next guy too. yeah, she blamed the alex drama on josh (an RA she was seeing at the time), and yeah, it's a known thing that josh doesn't like alex at all. but fucking seriously? she had NO problem with him after she stopped seeing josh, and in fact seemed glad that me and alex had briefly made up around my birthday. uhhh hillary HE'S STILL HISPANIC. DID YOU NOT NOTICE?
really though, i'm quite sick of it. the only drama i tend to have revolves around her, and i don't need drama. every single entry but one tagged "drama" that i've posted since JANUARY is mostly about her. what the hell. dnw.
